In case the name doesn't spell it out, Stream What You Hear gives you the possibility of streaming audio from your computer to another. It may not sound like much, but if you have, for example, a single pair of speakers in your office, this simple utility can come in quite useful. Rather than crawling under your desk when you need to borrow the speakers, you can just stream what you want everyone to hear to the computer that has speakers.

The application is absolutely free, but you can make a donation if you wish to support the developers. Its setup file is quite small and its core components can be installed in under a minute. Furthermore, the application doesn't have any special requirements and you don't need powerful hardware to keep it running.

Stream What You Hear has a simple design, but despite its bare-bone appearance, the application has plenty to offer in terms of functionality. Launching the application and letting it run in the background is all the preparation you need to do. Once it is running, you can choose to stream to a UPnP or DLNA device by selecting that device through the application's system tray icon.

The application is capable of streaming any sound made on your system. Even if you get an error message, you will hear its corresponding sound on the target device. Additionally, Stream What You Hear can record sounds. It takes a single click to start recording and, just like with the streaming, the application will record any sound on your computer, regardless of where it comes from.

Besides streaming to TVs, gaming consoles or other devices, the application can stream to other computers as well. The best part is that you don't have to make any complicated settings for this to work. All you have to do is select this option, after right clicking the system tray icon. This will generate a link, which you can send to other users to click on their own computers. Clicking that link will take them to a stream page on their default web browser, where they can hear everything on your computer.

Any sound made on your computer can be streamed seamlessly and effortlessly on any other device in your vicinity, thanks to Stream What You Hear's simple and efficient functionality.

Pros

You can stream any sounds to any computer on your network or to UPnP and DLNA devices. All operations can be carried out immediately, with only a few clicks. The application is lightweight, it doesn't use a significant amount of resources.

Cons

There are no obvious drawbacks to address.
